Hello Everyone! New guy here to golf carts, but I wrench on cars every day, for 37 years. Bought a 97 Club Car DS electric 48v today, knowing it was inop. Guy who sold it stated he bought it 2 months ago and it was awesome, even installed 6 new batteries. 4 days ago he pulled it into his driveway and set the brake, turned it off. Came back out 2 hours later to an inoperative cart. Allegedly checked all the wiring, all ok. Based on advice from his buddies, he changed the solenoid. It took me a while, but i found out that he didn't put all the wires back on the solenoid in the correct places, and even left some off. I believe everything to be connected properly, based on a picture I saw here on this page in another post. What I know is this - have 53.6 volts to the solenoid and to the computer. Have 53.6 to the key-switch. There is a two wire battery status monitor connected behind the dash and hanging out - this displays the battery voltage even with the key off/out - I believe this is just because it is connected to the wrong side of the key switch. The cart does not move forward or back, nor does the solenoid click at any time. I tested the old solenoid and the new solenoid (took me a while to figure out it took 48 volts to get the solenoid to activate, I was bench testing with 12V like any mechanic would, lol), both work, so that part was changed needlessly. The only other thing i know is that the reverse buzzer/alarm sounds when the selector is placed in reverse, even if the key is not turned, which doesn't sound right to me. I did make sure that there is 53.6 volts on both sides of the key switch as well. Does the solenoid get power when the key is turned or only when the accelerator depressed? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this model? I realize there are multiple culprits as to why this cart stopped moving and does not work, including the computer, controller, motor, accelerator pedal - but I have so many questions. I'd even be willing to pay if someone could guide me through testing so I don't waste money on throwing parts at it? If the motor was bad, would the solenoid still click? I would think so. Hopefully someone out there has the knowledge needed to guide me through this. Thanks in advance
